Why Facebook blocks accounts
Facebook runs sophisticated algorithms to detect automated behavior. Its goal is to block bots, spammers, and abuse. But sometimes those algorithms mistakenly flag legitimate businesses as "suspicious." Here are 10 rules to help you avoid that.
The 10 rules
Rule 1: Don't post too fast
The clearest sign of a bot is rapid-fire posting. If you post to 50 Groups within 10 minutes, Facebook will block you within hours. The recommended minimum interval is 3-5 minutes between posts.
Rule 2: Daily limits
Even with good spacing, stay under these daily limits:
- ✓New account (0-3 months) — up to 10 posts a day
- ✓Established account (3-6 months) — up to 30 posts a day
- ✓Mature account (6+ months) — up to 50-80 posts a day
- ✓Power user account (1+ year) — up to 150 posts a day
Rule 3: Vary your content
Facebook flags identical posts as spam. Don't post the same exact text to 100 Groups. Vary it slightly — add or drop emojis, reorder sentences, swap words. AI can do this automatically.
Rule 4: Reply to comments
Accounts that post but never engage look suspicious. Reply to at least some of the comments you receive. It doesn't take much time, and it meaningfully improves your account's "health score" in Facebook's eyes.
Rule 5: Use images
A post with an image reads as more natural to Facebook than a text-only post. Attach a relevant image to every post — it doesn't just boost engagement, it also lowers your block risk.
Rule 6: Avoid direct links
External links in the first line of text are treated as spam. Instead, put the link in the first comment ("Link in the first comment for details"). It's an old trick, but it works.
Rule 7: Start slow with a new account
If you just opened a new account, don't jump straight to 100 posts a day. Warm it up — 1-2 posts a day in week one, 5 in week two, 10 in week three, and so on. That's how Facebook "gets to know" you.
Rule 8: Use your real account
Don't create fake accounts. Facebook detects and penalizes them. Use your real personal account, with a real name and photo.
Rule 9: Read the Group's rules
Before you post, read the Group's rules. If they prohibit business posts — don't post. If there's a designated posting day — post only then.
Rule 10: Use a tool with built-in protection
Using a smart marketing tool with safety mechanisms is the difference between getting blocked and succeeding. Natural Poster is built around all of these rules — randomized intervals, automatic text variations, and a health score that warns you when there's risk.
What to do if you get blocked
If you get blocked, don't panic. Follow these steps:
- ✓Don't try to work around the block — it will only make things worse
- ✓Wait it out — temporary blocks typically resolve within 24 hours to a week
- ✓Appeal the block — if you believe it was a mistake, appeal through Facebook Help
- ✓Slow your pace back down once you're back — ramp it up gradually again
- ✓Review your posts — if they look spammy, revise them
