The problem
You run a pest control business in Austin. You post in a "Pest Control Nationwide" Group with 30K members. 29,500 of them don't live anywhere near you. That's wasted effort. A customer in Seattle isn't going to hire a pest controller from Austin.
The strategy
1. Join local Groups only
"Austin Residents," "Austin Small Businesses," "Austin Recommendations." A Group of 5K local members is worth 10x a 50K nationwide Group.
2. Add your location to the headline
Instead of "Professional pest control" — try "Professional pest control in South Austin." People see the location and connect with it.
3. Neighborhood-level Groups
There are Groups for specific neighborhoods ("Residents of [neighborhood]"). They're small (1-3K members) but the engagement is off the charts. A recommendation from a neighbor is gold.
4. Reference your location in the post
In the post itself — "I've lived here 15 years," "my own neighborhood," "everyone on the block knows me." That builds local trust.
